Course Objective:
This training course will help international students working and doing research at the university, and other foreigners living in the city, to get to know Hungarian culture and learn some basic phrases used in everyday communication. They will gain insight into the lives of Hungarians (traditions, history, gastronomy etc.) therefore, have a better understanding of the country. Practical support is given to solve language challenges in common situations (shopping, ordering in a restaurant, travelling).
The aim is that the participants feel more comfortable during their stay here, because after learning about the different topics, they will understand local customs and can use „survival Hungarian” for simple communication.
The course consists of 10 sessions (with a 90-minute session each week).
Target Audience:
Recommended for international students who are completing their internship or PhD studies at the university, and are interested in Hungarian culture and would like to learn some practical expressions for basic communication.
Also recommended for any foreigner working in Győr and the region, and think that getting to know Hungarian culture and speaking some phrases can be useful for their everyday life while staying in the country.
Participants of the training course will benefit from additional advantages during their studies in the following programme(s) at Széchenyi István University.
Participants who successfully complete the training may have the knowledge and competences acquired during the programme recognized in the following course:

Assessment: Language and culture quiz during the final session. A minimum of 50% is required to pass.
