Course Objective:
This training course will help international colleagues in education or research with no previous knowledge of Hungarian. Participants learn to use the language in everyday situations. Participants will focus on developing all skills – reading, writing, listening and speaking – by engaging in meaningful tasks and assignments appropriate for an introductory course. They will also develop their language skills and communicative competence by engaging in realistic tasks at the beginner level. The course is theme-based covering a variety of topics and a project-based learning approach will be used by completing mini projects throughout the term. In the course participants will look at language structures (grammar) in context, as they occur in our texts. They will also learn about Hungary and Hungarian culture through the themes and topics.
The course consists of 10 sessions (90-minute sessions each week).
Target Audience:
Recommended for international instructors and researchers who are working at Széchenyi István university, and are interested in Hungarian culture and would like to learn practical expressions for basic communication.
Participants who successfully complete the training may have the knowledge and competences acquired during the programme recognized in the following course:

Assessment: Language and culture quiz during the final session. A minimum of 50% is required to pass.
