The aim of the programme:
The aim of the training is to promote children's rights in the digital environment by increasing the knowledge of professionals and future professionals about the opportunities and risks of the digital world.
The programme will be organised by the Deák Ferenc Faculty of Law and Political Sciences of Széchenyi István University in February 2025 within the framework of the Winter Seminar. The length of the programme will be 40 hours with lectures and workshops in English.
During the programme, participants will acquire a comprehensive knowledge of:
- the regulation of social media, its impact on children and solutions of reparation available in case of violation of children's rights through social media
- trends in cybercrime affecting and specifically targeting children, possible ways of preventing crimes and raising children's awareness of their rights
- the growing addiction to video games, the positive and harmful effects of video games and video game regulation in the context of the changing media consumption habits of children
- the impact of growing up in the digital environment on children's mental health and psychological development
- on children's fundamental rights and their exercise and limitations in the digital environment
- on the operation of hotlines for the protection of children and the experience gained in their functioning in relation to harms and risks to children
- UNICEF's role in raising children's awareness and the importance of children's participation
- the international framework of legislation to protect children in the digital environment and the need for States to play an active role in this field
- protecting children's privacy in the digital environment
At the end of the 40-hour programme, participants should produce an essay, a micro-project or a presentation. During the programme, participants could visit the Parliament/National Authority for Data Protection and Freedom of Information or the National Media and Infocommunications Authority as part of an organised excursion.
Audience (recommended input assumption):
- Graduate professionals working with children, from any field of training, with a special emphasis on legal and pedagogical training.
- Professionals employed in companies operating according to the principles of corporate social responsibility.
- Students enrolled in a higher education institution for a bachelor's, master's or postgraduate course.

The Széchenyi István University issues a certificate of completion of the programme.
